Kentucky disburses $10M in nuclear grants
The Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority (KNEDA) recently distributed its first awards through the new Nuclear Energy Development Grant Program, which was established last year. In total, KNEDA disbursed $10 million to a variety of companies that will use the funding to support siting studies, enrichment supply-chain planning, workforce training, and curriculum development.

As the demand for electricity in America rapidly grows, our military installations are increasingly considering nuclear power as part of their energy resilience plans. Nuclear power operates 24/7/365, and has the potential to provide defense installations with resilient energy for several years, even in the face of extreme weather conditions, physical or cyberattacks, pandemics, biothreats, and other emerging challenges that could disrupt commercial energy networks. The Army, Navy, and Air Force each have initiatives in place exploring the deployment of nuclear reactors on installations.
