Division Spotlight
Operations & Power
Members focus on the dissemination of knowledge and information in the area of power reactors with particular application to the production of electric power and process heat. The division sponsors meetings on the coverage of applied nuclear science and engineering as related to power plants, non-power reactors, and other nuclear facilities. It encourages and assists with the dissemination of knowledge pertinent to the safe and efficient operation of nuclear facilities through professional staff development, information exchange, and supporting the generation of viable solutions to current issues.

College students help develop waste-measuring device at Hanford
A partnership between Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) and Washington State University has resulted in the development of a device to measure radioactive and chemical tank waste at the Hanford Site. WRPS is the contractor at Hanford for the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management.
* The poster session is open to undergraduate and graduate students and will be held at the 2021 Student ANS Virtual Meeting. Interested students will provide a pdf of their poster as well as a 3-minute video of their presentation. The final pdf and video link must be uploaded to the meeting platform by April 1, 2021. The videos will be viewed and judged by attendees on-demand on Student ANS Meeting platform. The poster session is an opportunity for students to present their work at a large meeting of industry, academic, and governmental leaders. Cash awards will be presented for the best poster presented.
To submit a poster, please complete the online Student submission form at https://epsr.ans.org/meeting/?m=344 following the Student Poster Submission Guidelines found under the resources tab of the Student ANS Virtual Meeting website. Further instructions on how to create a recording and where to submit your poster pdf and mp4 file will be provided after the revised submission deadline.
Review and acceptance of poster abstracts follow the same deadline as transaction papers. The deadlines can be found under the Call-For-Paper link under the resource tab. If you need assistance submitting your poster, please contact echen2@ncsu.edu.
