Division Spotlight
Reactor Physics
The division's objectives are to promote the advancement of knowledge and understanding of the fundamental physical phenomena characterizing nuclear reactors and other nuclear systems. The division encourages research and disseminates information through meetings and publications. Areas of technical interest include nuclear data, particle interactions and transport, reactor and nuclear systems analysis, methods, design, validation and operating experience and standards. The Wigner Award heads the awards program.

Taking shape: Fusion energy ecosystems built with public-private partnerships
It’s possible to describe fusion in simple terms: heat and squeeze small atoms to get abundant clean energy. But there’s nothing simple about getting fusion ready for the grid.
Private developers, national lab and university researchers, suppliers, and end users working toward that goal are developing a range of complex technologies to reach fusion temperatures and pressures, confounded by science and technology gaps linked to plasma behavior; materials, diagnostics, and electronics for extreme environments; fuel cycle sustainability; and economics.
Thank you for joining the American Nuclear Society! You have joined a community of more than 10,000 dedicated professionals and students who share your passion for advancing nuclear science and technology. Together, we'll work towards realizing our vision of a world that unlocks the full potential of the atom to improve human lives and preserve our planet.
Where do I start?
1. Complete your profile. Be sure to provide your mailing address to receive your print subscription to Nuclear News and Radwaste Solutions magazine (included for all members within North America).
2. Sign up for Professional Divisions and Local or Student Sections. Division and Section memberships are a great way to connect with other members!
3. Access your benefits. From the member center, you can access your electronic subscriptions to the technical journals and the magazine archives, find a webinar to watch, look for new opportunities in the Career Finder, or check your member information.
What’s next?
Your membership is active immediately, so no need to wait to register for a meeting or access members-only content. If you’re a member in North America and you have provided your mailing address, your first Nuclear News magazine should arrive within the next 3 – 6 weeks. Over the next few weeks, you’ll also receive a series of emails introducing you in more detail to different member benefits.
