This is an introduction to the SCALE modeling and simulation suite, with brief demos presented by SCALE developers. SCALE, with its user-friendly, well-validated computational capabilities spanning a large breath of nuclear science and engineering applications, is an excellent learning and research toolset for students. https://www.ornl.gov/scale
This brief intro to SCALE will include three illustrative demos: (1) 3D modeling with KENO of a nuclear criticality benchmark experiment; (2) straightforward modeling with Polaris of neutron transport and nuclear transmutations in a fuel assembly during reactor irradiation; (2) analysis with ORIGEN and MAVRIC of neutron activation in a shielding benchmark experiment.
Hosted by the SCALE Team, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
