Mathematics & Computation
Division members promote the advancement of mathematical and computational methods for solving problems arising in all disciplines encompassed by the Society. They place particular emphasis on numerical techniques for efficient computer applications to aid in the dissemination, integration, and proper use of computer codes, including preparation of computational benchmark and development of standards for computing practices, and to encourage the development on new computer codes and broaden their use.

Acceleron Fusion raises $24M in seed funding to advance low-temp fusion
Cambridge, Mass.–based fusion startup Acceleron Fusion announced that it has closed a $24 million Series A funding round co-led by Lowercarbon Capital and Collaborative Fund. According to Acceleron, the funding will fuel the company’s efforts to advance its low-temperature muon-catalyzed fusion technology.
The ANS Columbia, SC Local Section Scholarship was established in 2001. The ANS Columbia Local Section will provide annual scholarships (up to $1500) for students residing in South Carolina and pursuing nuclear science, nuclear engineering or a related field in any U.S. program. Undergraduate and graduate students from South Carolina are encouraged to apply.

Undergraduate (Sophomore, Junior and Senior)
Graduate (Masters or Ph.D.)
$1500 budgeted annually (may be distributed amongst multiple recipients)
