The ANS honors and awards committee calls on ANS members to nominate colleagues for the annual meeting awards, but act fast, all nominations are due by March 1. The recipients of the national awards listed below will be honored on during the opening plenary session of the 2024 ANS Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Nev. Honorees will be notified of their selection by May.
The American Nuclear Society 2023 Annual Meeting will kick off on June 11 in Indianapolis, Ind., and will run through June 14. ANS has named the recipients of six awards that will be presented at the meeting. Five new Fellows will also be honored at the opening plenary session. Additionally, the Tuesday's plenary session will include the presentation of five presidential citations and a recognition and show of appreciation for Steven Arndt, ANS's outgoing president.
At the Nuclear Energy Institute’s Nuclear Energy Assembly, held this year in Washington, D.C., the Henry DeWolf Smyth Nuclear Statesman Award was presented on May 17 to Mark Peters, Battelle’s executive vice president for national laboratory management and operations.

The focus of this professional division is the development and use of skills and technologies needed for the optimal management of the end-of-life care (decommissioning, decontamination, and remediation), long-term surveillance, and maintenance of nuclear installations, materials, facilities, and sites.
The recipients of ANS awards will be recognized during the 2021 ANS Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C., during the opening plenary and President’s Special Session. The national awards will be presented by President Steven Nesbit and Honors and Awards Committee chair H. M. “Hash” Hashemian.
The American Nuclear Society has named the recipients of six awards that will be presented during the 2021 ANS Virtual Annual Meeting, which begins on June 14. The Society has also named eight new Fellows, who will be honored during the opening plenary session.
American Nuclear Society President Mary Lou Dunzik-Gougar recognized four Presidential Citation recipients and the Milton Levenson Distinguished Service Award winner on November 18 during the 2020 ANS Virtual Winter Meeting.
