TVA nominees promise to support advanced reactor development
Four nominees to serve on the Tennessee Valley Authority Board of Directors told the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee that they support the build-out of new advanced nuclear reactors to meet the increased energy demand being shouldered by the country’s largest public utility.

The "Take A Look Back" panel session will focus on the progress in D&D over the last 50 years of the industry to back when first formal D&D projects (early to mid-1970s Piqua Rx D&D, Elk River Reactor D&D, Yankee Rowe NPP D&D and other DOE projects, among others, as examples) were undertaken. Seasoned panelists and experts will address changes to the D&D projects' typical course and how all the various aspects have changed, based on project experiences and their experiences. Panelists -- many of whom worked through that entire life cycle of 1975-2024 in various technical areas -- will address topics such as waste management, project management and project approaches, technologies selection and availability, stakeholder engagement and its evolution and facility/site characterization and release.
