The MARVEL reactor is well on its way to become the first Department of Energy (DOE) advanced reactor demonstration in several decades. After completing the 90% final design, the MARVEL projected shifted focus to submitting the safety basis for the reactor to DOE, fabrication and testing of several key components (e.g., guard vessel, reactor control system), and the utilization strategy for the reactor. The panel will provide an overview of the current status of the demonstration project with an emphasis on these aforementioned topics.
