Structural Properties Laboratory now open at INL
Earlier this week, Idaho National Laboratory announced that its Structural Properties Laboratory (SPL) has been fully operational since January. Located at INL’s Materials and Fuels Complex, the SPL houses the lab’s first new hot cell in 50 years.

Currently there are only a handful of countries involved in used fuel recycling. Why is this and what needs to be different to enable the use case for future recycling? Creating a truly integrated nuclear fuel cycle where no waste is created and all the energy & resources are utilized remains a dream. This panel will discuss what opportunities exist today to move closer towards this dream, creating a more sustainable future for nuclear power.
