IAEA looks at nuclear techniques for crop resilience
The International Atomic Energy Agency has launched a five-year coordinated research project (CRP) to strengthen plant health preparedness using nuclear and related technologies.
Wheat blast, potato late blight, potato bacterial wilt, and cassava witches broom disease can spread quickly across large areas of land, leading to severe yield losses in key crops for food security. Global trade and climate change have increased the likelihood of rapid, transboundary spread.

Luca Ceccato is currently the Vice President of the Darlington Nuclear Refurbishment project. He started as an I&C Technician in the Maintenance field at the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station. He has progressed into various leadership roles and most notably as the Darlington Station Maintenance Manager. During this tenure, he oversaw the department being the first Canadian Maintenance organization to achieve an Exemplary status.
Luca is also on the Board of Directors of the Electrical Power Systems Construction Association.
