The mission of the Decommissioning and Environmental Sciences (DES) Division is to promote the development and use of those skills and technologies associated with the use of nuclear energy and the optimal management and stewardship of the environment, sustainable development, decommissioning, remediation, reutilization, and long-term surveillance and maintenance of nuclear-related installations, and sites. The target audience for this effort is the membership of the Division, the Society, and the public at large.

The move is meant to open new partnership opportunities with OpenAI, where Altman is CEO, and other artificial intelligence companies.

Most presentations are allowed 15 minutes with a 5 minutes Q&A. Please contact your chair ahead of time for specifics on your session.

We are allowing PDF, PPT, MP4, and links to external (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo) videos (for prerecorded videos).
The sessions will all take place live, but if a presenter cannot make their designated time, you may see part of a session prerecorded.

Yes, registrants will have access to all sessions. Please give ANS 24 hours after completion of session to post the recordings to the platform.
The author has the option to share their own screen and run their own presentation however, all presentations must be sent in advance in case of internet connectivity or computer issues. In such a scenario, the session chair will act as a backup and share your presentation for you. Alternatively, at request, the session chair can share your presentation for you while you present.
There are two ways attendees will be able to ask questions; one option is to submit questions through the chat function and the other is to click the “raise your hand” button. The Session Chair can then unmute the attendee to ask the question. The chair of the session will announce how they are handling questions at the beginning of each session.
