Do you work in a facility that handles plutonium or similar actinides? Have you ever been interested in understanding what process descriptions mean by oxidation states? Would you like to hear about some of the common upset conditions that plutonium chemists and NCS personnel have to consider in their day-to-day operations? Or are you tired of hearing about uranium all the time and interested in exploring the world of Plutonium?
Then please consider joining us for the first ever Plutonium Chemistry workshop!
The NCSD Topical Team has partnered with prominent actinide chemists to bring the NCSD community an opportunity to better understand Plutonium Chemistry and its applications in Nuclear Criticality Safety. Join us Sunday morning where you will be introduced to representatives from the US DOE Sites including the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and from the United Kingdom.
The workshop will include lectures by our speakers covering the basics of Plutonium Chemistry for Criticality Safety Engineers, an overview of prominent Plutonium Chemistry applications, and common upset conditions that these sites have dealt with historically and still manage regularly! The workshop will also include, but not require, participation from the audience to test your intuition and understanding of the science of Plutonium Chemistry!
Please consider joining the workshop to experience this rare opportunity to expand your Criticality Safety repertoire and meet face-to-face with leaders in the field of Plutonium Chemistry!
