  Construction license application submitted for Poland’s first nuclear plant
  Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe, Poland’s state-owned utility, has formally submitted an application for a construction license to build a nuclear power plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in Pomerania. The country’s first nuclear power plant will consist of three Westinghouse AP1000 units with a total installed capacity of 3,750 MWe. The construction and engineering contractor for the project is a U.S.-based consortium of Westinghouse and Bechtel.

Ten teams competed in the finale of the ANS Student Webinar Series, an exciting new initiative that was launched following the postponement of the 2020 ANS Student Conference. Congratulations to all of the competitors and thank you to the ANS Education, Training & Workforce Development Division and Young Members Group for their generous support!

The winning teams were (prize amounts per team):

First Place ($1,300) - Team Project OLS (West Point, presented by Sally Varner)
Second Place ($1,100) - Team ONE Energy (Ontario Tech, presented by Jordan Crowell)
Third Place ($900) - Team Army Nuclear Power for Land Operations (West Point, presented by Ricardo Damiani)
Fourth Place ($700) - Team The Salty Spittoon (NC State, presented by Vincent Novellino)
Fifth Place ($500) - Team RADBOT (West Point, presented by Brendan Huhlein)
