Nano to begin drilling next week in Illinois
It’s been a good month for Nano Nuclear in the state of Illinois. On October 7, the Office of Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that the company would be awarded $6.8 million from the Reimagining Energy and Vehicles in Illinois Act to help fund the development of its new regional research and development facility in the Chicago suburb of Oak Brook.
The Oak Ridge / Knoxville Section of the American Nuclear Society will provide annual scholarships (up to $1000 each) for up to two engineering students studying nuclear engineering and whose university’s physical location is within the following zip codes: 37000-37299, 37500-38399, 38500-38599, 40700-40999, 41500-41899, or 42000-42799. These zip codes include the University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt University, and any other college or university that offers nuclear-related research or coursework.
Each applicant must be entering their junior or senior year next fall or be a graduate student next fall. You may apply for this scholarship by providing the information requested and by having at least two faculty members complete the recommendation forms.
Oak Ridge / Knoxville Local Section
A committee of the ANS Oak Ridge / Knoxville Local Section will select the award recipient. Discuss each topic fully and give specific examples. No specific weighting of each topic has been set for use in the application evaluation. All eligible students are strongly encouraged to apply. Note that the local section may preferentially weight one of the two possible scholarships towards students that have been actively engaged in the national, local, and student activities.
