Nuclear moratoriums crumble around the world
The recent surge in positive sentiment about nuclear as the most viable answer to global energy needs and decarbonization goals has found governments around the world taking steps to reverse course on decades-old bans, moratoriums, and restrictions on new nuclear development.
The ANS Kent W. Hamlin Memorial Scholarship was established in 2010 to continue Kent’s support of the nuclear power industry.
Kent W. Hamlin (1948 – 2010) was widely recognized in the nuclear power industry—worldwide—for his exemplary contributions to the industry’s accredited, standardized training programs, his dedication to promoting the highest standards of safety, reliability, and excellence in plant operations, and his high personal standards, integrity, and consummate professionalism.
During his long career, Kent served in various leadership and executive roles that had a significant impact on the industry’s continuing improvements and successes. Through his unwavering commitment to plant operator training, he set high industry standards for effective operator licensing activities. Kent was a major contributor to the initial development and continuing success of the Conference on Nuclear Training and Education (CONTE).
