Pathways to a Massive Nuclear Deployment in the United States

This panel will closely examine the goal of quadrupling U.S. nuclear capacity by 2050. The panel will feature experts who have analyzed the electricity demand, fuel-cycle requirements, workforce needs, and cost reductions necessary to support this level of nuclear deployment and market penetration. Panelists will discuss these topics and conclude with recommendations for improving the likelihood of quadrupling nuclear capacity—or, at minimum, massively scaling deployment over the next three decades. The DOE Systems Analysis and Integration (SA&I) campaign has commissioned a report on the pathways to quadruple nuclear energy by 2050 in the United States. Meeting this formidable goal will require creative ideas and collective leadership across the nuclear industry. This session will start with a discussion on the findings of the DOE SA&I report and is designed as a two-way panel discussion that encourages the audience to engage with the panelists, brainstorm practical solutions, and leave with ideas that stakeholders across the industry can help advance.
