Chernobyl at 40 years: Looking back at Nuclear News
Sunday, April 26, at 1:23 a.m. local time will mark 40 years since the most severe nuclear accident in history: the meltdown of Unit 4 at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine, then part of the Soviet Union.
In the ensuing four decades, countless books, documentaries, articles, and conference sessions have examined Chernobyl’s history and impact from various angles. For decades, nuclear technology has quietly powered progress: clean energy, advanced isotope research, lifesaving medical treatments, space applications, national security, and more. As nuclear reemerges in public conversation, we’re ready to build bigger and better than ever before. The blueprints are bold—and you’re a part of the design.
Whether you’re new to the industry or a seasoned expert, the 2025 ANS Winter Conference & Expo is your chance to connect, learn, and collaborate with every sector of nuclear.
Executive sessions will bring you face-to-face with senior officials from the administration and Congress as they unpack the latest executive orders.
Explore visionary strategies with industry leaders to grow the workforce, revitalize supply chains, accelerate commercialization, and amplify public advocacy.
Engage with cutting-edge technologies on the exhibit floor and exchange ideas that will shape a new nuclear century.
This is where the future takes form. Together, we’re creating real solutions for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Step into the moment, shape the conversation, and join us in Building the Nuclear Century at the 2025 ANS Winter Conference & Expo in Washington, D.C.
