Center for Used Fuel Research: Building confidence in storage and transport
Used nuclear fuel storage and transportation have reached a critical juncture.
Dozens of utilities need reliable data on how used nuclear fuel performs in dry storage casks and canisters to extend regulatory licenses at sites across the United States. Likewise, the Department of Energy expects to take ownership of the used nuclear fuel—termed “spent nuclear fuel” in the laws and regulations governing its stewardship—and transfer it to one or more federal staging facilities for management and disposition.
Meanwhile, dozens of reactor companies are testing prototypes of advanced reactors and advanced reactor fuels. Eventually, regulators and industry must also verify the safety and security of storage methods for these advanced fuel types.
To help address these challenges, the DOE established the Center for Used Fuel Research (CUFR) in January 2026 for work related to the long-term storage and transport of used nuclear fuel.

Meeting Future Challenges in Risk Assessment and Risk Management
Long Beach, CA|Marriott Long Beach Downtown
PSA 2027 will celebrate fifty years of progress while looking ahead to the challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of risk assessment and risk management. The conference will bring together three generations of the probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) community: the pioneers who established the foundations of PRA, the practitioners who transformed PRA into a mature engineering, safety, and regulatory decision-support tool, and the next generation of experts who will advance the discipline and extend its applications to new technologies and emerging challenges.
For sponsors and exhibitors, PSA 2027 offers more than visibility - it offers access to a highly specialized audience shaping how risk assessment is applied across industrial, regulatory, and emerging-technology settings. The 50th Anniversary Conference creates a focused opportunity to build relationships, demonstrate expertise, and align your organization with the future of probabilistic safety assessment. This once-in-a-lifetime forum will connect sponsors and exhibitors with decision-makers, regulators, project managers, business leaders, scientists, engineers, students, and educators from around the world who work in PSA-related topical areas. Simply put, no other forum will capture the full breadth of the PSA community the way PSA 2027 will.
Showcase your brand at PSA 2027 and its products and services. Demonstrate how your organization can support risk-informed processes, activities, and systems while improving safety and efficiency.
