MIT-led model simulates radionuclide migration in geologic disposal systems
Researchers with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, working with scientists from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of Orléans, have modeled radionuclide behavior in deep geologic formations, offering a tool for developing a defensible safety case for the underground disposal of radioactive waste.
Pacific Basin Nuclear Conference 2024 (PBNC)
Dr. Chae Young Lim is the Senior Vice President for Nuclear Policy and Strategy at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). Previously, he was in charge of senior vice president of the Innovative Nuclear Reactor System, Nuclear Policy Division, and Research Project Management Division of KAERI.
Since he joined the KAERI in 1998, he has been mainly working on studies to draft a national nuclear promotion policy and electricity expansion plan. He was a member ofthe National Energy Committee, which consults the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy about major energy policy issues. He received his B.S. in Nuclear Engineeringfrom Seoul National University and earned a master’s and Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineeringfrom the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)
