Decommissioning & Environmental Sciences
The mission of the Decommissioning and Environmental Sciences (DES) Division is to promote the development and use of those skills and technologies associated with the use of nuclear energy and the optimal management and stewardship of the environment, sustainable development, decommissioning, remediation, reutilization, and long-term surveillance and maintenance of nuclear-related installations, and sites. The target audience for this effort is the membership of the Division, the Society, and the public at large.

NRC advisors give nod to Hermes construction permit
Having completed its review of the construction permit application for Kairos Power’s Hermes test reactor early last month, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) recently submitted its conclusions to the agency, recommending approval.
Participation in the 2022 Annual Meeting Student Program is open to the first 75 students to register. So make sure to register early!
Did you know that as an ANS Student Member you can attend the ANS Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA and receive reimbursement of your registration fee plus a portion of your travel costs?
Participating in the Student Program is a great way to meet other students as well as professionals in your chosen field of study. It’s also an opportunity to begin making your name and carving your path within your professional society!
All you have to do is work and participate in various activities at the conference and earn a minimum of 10 points.
