DOE selects first companies for nuclear launch pad
The Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy and the National Reactor Innovation Center have announced their first selections for the Nuclear Energy Launch Pad: three companies developing microreactors and one developing fuel supply.
The four companies—Deployable Energy, General Matter, NuCube Energy, and Radiant Industries—were selected from the initial pool of Reactor Pilot Program and Fuel Line Pilot Program applicants, the two precursor programs to the launch pad.

The Nuclear Nonproliferation Policy Division (NNPD) Service Award recognizes individuals or teams for exemplary service, achievement, or contribution to the NNPD including support to the division topical meetings, significant white papers, policy statements and other significant contributions in general. The purpose of this award is to promote to others that the ANS Nuclear Nonproliferation Policy Division encourages such accomplishments and recognizes their importance to nonproliferation.Nominations may be completed by a member of ANS, including the possibility of self-nominations. Nominees need to be ANS members at the time of nomination. It is normally presented to a member of the NNPD, however, any ANS member is eligible. Not awarded posthumously.The award consists of an engraved plaque that is presented at the ANS Winter Conference.
This award was established by the Nuclear Nonproliferation Policy Division in 2025. The mission of the NNPD is to promote the peaceful uses of nuclear technology while preventing the misuse and diversion of safeguarded materials. Likewise, the division strives to promote nuclear nonproliferation policies and practices. This award's intent is to recognize outstanding contributions or service in the field of nuclear nonproliferation.
The award may be given to an individual or collectively to a team for success on a single project, activity, contribution, or sustained initiative related to the field of nuclear nonproliferation.
