Education and training to support Canadian nuclear workforce development
Along with several other nations, Canada has committed to net-zero emissions by 2050. Part of this plan is tripling nuclear generating capacity. As of 2025, the country has four operating nuclear generating stations with a total of 17 reactors, 16 of which are in the province of Ontario. The Independent Electricity System Operator has recommended that an additional 17,800 MWe of nuclear power be added to Ontario’s grid.
The Education, Training and Workforce Development Division (ETWDD) provides communication among the academic, industrial, and governmental communities through the exchange of views and information on matters related to education and training in nuclear and radiological science, engineering, and technology.

The ETWDD is comprised of industry leaders, education and training professionals, and interested students working together through ANS-sponsored meetings and publications, to enrich their professional development, to educate the general public, and to advance nuclear and radiological science and engineering.
New members are welcome - and encouraged! - to serve on the volunteer committees that support the ETWDD's goals. Committees include:
