Report: Funding growth for private fusion companies
A new report from the F4E Fusion Observatory highlights the robust growth of investments in private companies that are developing fusion energy technologies. The report, Global Investment in the Private Fusion Sector, is an updated release of a previous F4E Fusion Observatory report, published “in response to the unprecedented acceleration of investments in fusion companies since June 2025, which are consolidating fusion as a fast-growing emerging market.”

On May 23, 2025, President Trump issued Executive Order (EO) 14300 directing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to make substantial changes in order to support accelerated deployment of nuclear energy projects around the country. Since the issuance of this EO, the NRC has hosted public meetings, initiated new rulemakings, updated generic schedule milestones, and taken numerous other actions to improve the licensing picture for commercial nuclear technology and support the directives issued under the EO. Concerns have been raised in the press and by informed third parties; however, appreciating these activities, the perspectives of the NRC staff engaging directly, and the overall aims is paramount to the nuclear community supporting any potential chance for success at radical and thoughtful change.
