Going Nuclear: Notes from the officially unofficial book tour
I work in the analytical labs at one of Europe’s oldest and largest nuclear sites: Sellafield, in northwestern England. I spend my days at the fume hood front, pipette in one hand and radiation probe in the other (and dosimeter pinned to my chest, of course). Outside the lab, I have a second job: I moonlight as a writer and public speaker. My new popular science book—Going Nuclear: How the Atom Will Save the World—came out last summer, and it feels like my life has been running at full power ever since.

Capitol Hill
When the ANS Winter Conference is held in Washington, DC, ANS gives our members the opportunity to participate in congressional meetings throughout the day on Thursday, November 13. If you elect to participate, ANS will organize meetings allowing you to meet in-person with your Member of Congress and/or their staff on Capitol Hill. ANS members will be paired together in meeting groups by state/region for meetings throughout the morning/afternoon of the 13th.
Schedules and additional meeting materials will be e-mailed to registrants before the ANS Winter Conference. Please also remember to stop by the "How to Talk to Policymakers" session on Wednesday, November 12 to prepare for Thursday's Congressional meetings.
