The Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced yesterday that it is launching a significant reorganization to streamline decision making, consolidate functions, and align with national goals for more efficient licensing and deployment of new nuclear technology.
The changes are intended to meet the requirements outlined in President Trump’s Executive Order 14300, “Ordering Reform of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission,” and EO 14210, “Implementing the Department of Government Efficiency Workforce Optimization Initiative.”
19th International Conference on Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Analysis (PSA 2025)
Drew Nigh is an engineering leader with deep expertise in nuclear safety, probabilistic risk assessment, and regulatory engagement. Currently leading X-energy’s Risk Informed Safety Analysis department, he oversees a multidisciplinary team that uses PRA and safety analysis to inform the design basis for multiple projects. Over the past decade, Drew has built a career at the intersection of analysis and regulations, using probabilistic risk assessments to support operating light water reactors, advancing the design of non-light water reactors, and informing licensing strategies and regulatory guidance for the broader nuclear industry.
