The recycling of used nuclear fuel has a number of benefits for the nuclear fuel cycle but also a number of challenges. Key challenges include the high cost of recycling, proliferation concerns, and final disposal options for generated waste. This panel will examine the mix of technical, socio-economic, and political considerations and what has changed recently that may pave the way for recycling in the future.
