Division Spotlight
Mathematics & Computation
Division members promote the advancement of mathematical and computational methods for solving problems arising in all disciplines encompassed by the Society. They place particular emphasis on numerical techniques for efficient computer applications to aid in the dissemination, integration, and proper use of computer codes, including preparation of computational benchmark and development of standards for computing practices, and to encourage the development on new computer codes and broaden their use.

During this President's Plenary Session we will discuss the theme of "Failure is not an Option" and the challenge of the laborious and expensive licensing process for the civilian use of radioactive materials. The NRC licenses and regulates nuclear energy in the US to ensure public health and safety, defense and security, and environmental protection. The panel will explore how the NRC needs to change to promote energy security and environmental preservation and enable the future of clean, safe, and reliable nuclear energy.
