Westinghouse, Nordion, and PSEG team up to produce Co‑60 in the United States
This past January, Westinghouse Electric Company, Nordion, and PSEG Nuclear formalized agreements to implement newly developed cobalt-60 production technology at Units 1 and 2 of PSEG’s Salem nuclear power plant in New Jersey, with the Co-60 to be supplied to Nordion. Through an ongoing joint initiative, the companies aim to harness U.S. pressurized water reactors to produce a key medical isotope and build the first commercial-scale Co-60 production platform in the United States.

ExxonMobil
Greg Schulze is a Project Design Advisor for ExxonMobil Global Projects Company and is serving as the inaugural Chair of the Industrial Advanced Nuclear Consortium. The Industrial Advanced Nuclear Consortium is an end user driven community that aims to promote an integrated nuclear and industrial facility using principles of open architecture, modularization, and standardization to provide heat and/or power to the industrial user in a cost competitive and predictable manner. Founding companies are Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Freeport-McMoRan, Nucor, Rio Tinto, and Shell.
In Greg’s current role at ExxonMobil, he is leading efforts to understand the role nuclear could play to provide the heat and power needed in ExxonMobil’s operations. Previously he managed a 70-person operations department, and was responsible for new business development for Texas and Louisiana based natural gas liquids, liquified petroleum gas, and chemical pipelines for Exxon Mobil Pipeline Company.
Prior to joining ExxonMobil, Greg was a Submarine Officer in the U.S. Navy where he served aboard the USS HAMPTON (SSN 767) and was an Assistant Professor of Naval Science at Auburn University. He has since retired from the Navy Reserves with over 21 years of service. Greg has a bachelor degree in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M, and a master of mechanical engineering from Auburn University.
