Darleane C. Hoffman, transuranium element pioneer, dies at age 98
Hoffman
Nuclear chemist Darleane D. Hoffman, who was renowned for her research on transuranium elements that advanced the understanding of nuclear fission, died on September 4 at her home in Menlo Park, Calif. She was 98.
Iowa origins: Hoffman was born on November 8, 1926, in Terril, Ia. She attended Iowa State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1948 and a doctorate in physical (or nuclear) chemistry in 1951. She then began working as a chemist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

As Site Vice President of Constellation Generation's Limerick Clean Energy Center, Mr. Gillin is responsible to ensure safe and reliable operation of the site. He ensures that the facility is operated at the highest level of performance and consistently provides power for approximately 2 million homes and businesses in the region. Mr. Gillin has more than 26 years of commercial nuclear industry experience. He began his career with Constellation at the Limerick Generating Station. Mr. Gillin has held several leadership roles at the Limerick Generating Station including Senior Manager Plant Engineering, Shift Operations Superintendent, Operations Director, and Plant Manager. Mr. Gillin has also held senior leadership roles across the fleeting including Plant Manager of the Oyster Creek Generating Station, Vice President of Central Design Engineering, and Vice President of Corporate Engineering.
Mr. Gillin received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Master of Business Administration degrees from Villanova University. He also earned his Senior Reactor Operator license at Limerick in 2006.
