NRC reorganization aims to speed up licensing
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced yesterday that it is launching a significant reorganization to streamline decision making, consolidate functions, and align with national goals for more efficient licensing and deployment of new nuclear technology.
The changes are intended to meet the requirements outlined in President Trump’s Executive Order 14300, “Ordering Reform of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission,” and EO 14210, “Implementing the Department of Government Efficiency Workforce Optimization Initiative.”

The MARVEL reactor is trailblazing a path towards advanced reactor demonstration. As a Department of Energy sponsored effort, the project is keen to share lessons learned with the wider community to enable rapid follow-on developments in the commercial sector. To this end, this panel will offer broad perspectives on key insights gained during its rapid development cycle. Panelists will cover lessons learned relating to project management, cost/schedule, fabrication of critical components, and prototype testing.
