IAEA looks at nuclear techniques for crop resilience
The International Atomic Energy Agency has launched a five-year coordinated research project (CRP) to strengthen plant health preparedness using nuclear and related technologies.
Wheat blast, potato late blight, potato bacterial wilt, and cassava witches broom disease can spread quickly across large areas of land, leading to severe yield losses in key crops for food security. Global trade and climate change have increased the likelihood of rapid, transboundary spread.

The Reactor Physics Division (RPD) Early Career Reactor Physicist (ECRP) Award recognizes early career members of the RPD who have made significant contributions in the field of reactor physics. This award consists of a plaque and a letter signed by the chair of RPD recognizing the candidate's achievement of distinction. The 2025 ECRP award goes to Dr. Abdalla Abou-Jaoude from Idaho National Lab. He will be presenting a lecture titled 'Look Beyond the Core' during this session.
