The OPD Mid-Career Excellence Award recognizes nuclear professionals who have demonstrated sustained technical leadership, innovation, and measurable impact over a career spanning at least 15 years in the fields of reactor operations, performance optimization, safety enhancement, advanced reactor development, or energy systems integration.
The OPD Mid-Career Excellence Award celebrates mid-career professionals who:
The award consists of a plaque and is presented at the OPD Dinner at the ANS Annual Conference. OPD may provide an optional honorarium if financial assistance is needed to attend the award presentation.
Any ANS member may submit a nomination, and self-nominations are permitted.
The award consists of an engraved plaque that is presented each year.
This award was established by the ANS Operations and Power Division in 2025.
The OPD Honors & Awards Subcommittee, composed of at least three members of the OPD Executive Committee, will evaluate all nominations.
The Subcommittee may request additional information, decline to present an award in a given year, or recommend multiple recipients if warranted. Final approval is required from the OPD Executive Committee.
