Description

The Nuclear Criticality Safety Division (NCSD) Outstanding Contributions Award is for contributions that are considered outstanding and impactful to the NCSD. This award is to recognize individuals that have significantly or continually supported the NCSD through efforts that have:

  1. driven improvements/innovation in processes
  2. promoted collaborations within the NCSD or the larger ANS (cross-divisions)
  3. supported significant work in NCS-related standards
  4. increased overall engagement of membership
  5. promoted diversity and inclusion
  6. provided significant mentorship

This award is typically based on a career (<15 years) of commitment with significant impact on the NCSD.

The award consists of an engraved plaque, and is presented at the NSCD Awards Banquet at the ANS Winter Conference.

Anyone can nominate a deserving NCSD member. The nominee must be a member of NCSD. Individuals who were nominated in the past and were not selected may be re-nominated.

The Nuclear Criticality Safety Division established this award in 2024.


Selection Method

The NCSD Honors & Awards Committee solicits nominations from NCSD members. The NCSD H&A Committee will confirm the qualifications of nominees and select the awardees by consensus.

Nominations must include the completed nomination form accompanied by the following supporting documents:

  • A narrative summary up to 500 words, describing how the candidate has met the criteria for the award in sufficient detail as to provide the information for the extended citation.
