Innovation for advanced fuels at SRNL
As the only Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management–sponsored national lab, Savannah River National Laboratory has a history deeply rooted in environmental stewardship efforts such as nuclear material processing and disposition technologies. SRNL’s demonstrated expertise is now being leveraged to solve nuclear fuel supply -chain obstacles by providing a source of high-assay low-enriched uranium fuel for advanced reactors.

The Nuclear Criticality Safety Division’s (NCSD) Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals for outstanding service in carrying out the activities of the NCSD, including leadership in governance functions, the development of its technical program, the organization of topical meetings, workshops and tutorials, professional consensus standards, and other functions performed by special committees.
The award consists of an engraved plaque and monetary award as the NCSD budget allows (~ $300), and is presented at the NSCD Awards Banquet at the ANS Winter Conference.
Anyone can nominate a deserving NCSD member. The nominee must be a member of NCSD. Individuals who were nominated in the past and were not selected may be re-nominated.
The Nuclear Criticality Safety Division established this award in 2000.
The NCSD Honors & Awards Committee solicits nominations from NCSD members. The NCSD H&A Committee will confirm the qualifications of nominees and select the awardees by consensus.
