Two steps forward for U.K. advanced nuclear
This week, two significant announcements have emerged from the United Kingdom’s advanced reactor sector.
On June 14, Rolls-Royce, the United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory, and the Japan Atomic Energy Agency announced that they had signed two trilateral memorandums of cooperation to collaborate on “advanced modular reactor (AMR) technology, specifically high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTGR), and the coated particle fuel these reactors will use.”
Separately, on June 16, Bellevue, Wash.–based TerraPower announced that its Natrium reactor design has been formally submitted for U.K. regulatory review. The company also announced the formation of a new subsidiary, TerraPower UK Ltd.

This position is responsible for gathering, writing, and editing daily news for the Fuel Cycle and Waste Management sections of Nuclear Newswire and for selecting news items for publication in both sections of the monthly Nuclear News magazine. Occasionally, feature stories are assigned for an issue of Nuclear News; at least one feature for the magazine annually is expected from the associate editor. The associate editor is expected to work with the editor-in-chief and publications director to assist with soliciting features from external sources on topics for themed issues of Nuclear News and Radwaste Solutions. The person will work daily with the editor-in-chief of Nuclear News and the copyeditor to submit daily news, compile the monthly magazine, and proofread or perform other editorial production tasks as requested. Written and verbal communication skills are essential in our collaborative work environment. Attention to detail and organizational skills are a necessity.

ANS is seeking an early-career Marketing Specialist who brings high energy, natural enthusiasm for connecting with people, and strong fluency in modern AI-driven marketing tools. This person will play a key role in growing the Society’s membership and increasing participation in its conferences, webinars, outreach, and professional development programs.
The ideal candidate will thrive in collaborative work environments and be excited to interface with staff, members, and external partners. The role will emphasize marketing ANS’s new Certified Nuclear Professional credential, certificate courses, and conferences. We are looking for an individual who has experience in developing and executing successful marketing strategies and campaigns utilizing a variety of channels, including email, social media, and other marketing resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Skills Required: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; enjoys engaging with staff and external stakeholders in person and online. Organized, detail-oriented, and strong customer service attitude. Creative, curious, and eager to experiment with new marketing approaches. Computer literacy including: MS Office, CRM, Marketo or related email automation software, and AI resources.
Education: 4-year degree, preferably in marketing or business
Experience: 1-3 years of marketing or related experience (internships and relevant academic projects included)
