Idaho site marks 30 years of cleanup
When the Department of Energy, the state of Idaho, and the Environmental Protection Agency signed a federal facility agreement and consent order in December 1991, the agencies outlined a plan to investigate and clean up, if necessary, more than 500 individual waste areas within the 890-square-mile Idaho National Laboratory (INL) Site, which was established in 1949 to design, build, and test nuclear reactors.
The National Program Committee is responsible for the general character of all technical meetings of which the ANS is the sponsor or a major co–sponsor; soliciting and receiving technical papers; approving special technical sessions or discussions; and establishing standards, schedules, and procedures for selection and presentation at these meetings. The Committee has two subcommittees: The National Screening Subcommittee reviews proposals for all Topical Meetings, and the National Meeting Subcommittee participates in the process for selection of future venues for ANS National Meetings.
