South Korea looks to Southern and NuScale
This week, the United States and South Korea have taken two steps toward deepening their nuclear partnership through two notable announcements. First, the majority-state owned Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power signed a memorandum of understanding with Birmingham, Ala.–based Southern Nuclear.

This paper presents a helium cooled, lithium breeder with beryllium multiplier tandem mirror blanket concept. Beryllium has been added solely to increase blanket performance. Several candidate blanket concepts were considered. The two main conclusions emerging from this work are that: 1) all blankets have serious uncertainties and potential flaws that could limit their performance, and 2) beryllium can significantly increase economic performance.
