The Ohio State University Nuclear Reactor Laboratory and Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry are presenting the first Neutron Depth Profiling (NDP) Workshop on June 10, 2022. The daylong event will be held on campus and can also be attended via Zoom.

Register now. Registration, which is open until June 1, is free. A Zoom link will be provided upon registration.

Weaver

Featured speaker: The featured speaker will be Jamie L. Weaver, a research chemist and NDP instrument scientist with the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Weaver was previously a researcher at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington, before joining NIST in 2018.

What’s it about: The workshop will present an in-depth examination of NDP, a quantitative, nondestructive analytical technology that is sensitive to lithium atoms and is being increasingly used for characterizing lithium-ion batteries. Basic principles, research projects, and industrial applications will be covered, including analysis of calibration targets for the National Ignition Facility, glass durability studies, and observation of lithium transport and distribution profiles as batteries charge and discharge.

Questions? Additional information on the workshop can be obtained by emailing Raymond Cao, director of the OSU Nuclear Reactor Laboratory.
