This panel examines the full scope of nuclear security threats that nuclear engineers and national security professionals work to counter from nuclear terrorism and smuggling, to cybersecurity vulnerabilities in nuclear facilities, to nuclear forensics and consequence management. Many nuclear engineering students are unaware of this career path, which spans national laboratories, intelligence agencies, the private sector, and international organizations. The panel aims to expand the audience's understanding of what nuclear security professionals actually do.
