Devoted to all aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle including waste management, worldwide. Division specific areas of interest and involvement include uranium conversion and enrichment; fuel fabrication, management (in-core and ex-core) and recycle; transportation; safeguards; high-level, low-level and mixed waste management and disposal; public policy and program management; decontamination and decommissioning environmental restoration; and excess weapons materials disposition.

Argonne’s METL gears up to test more sodium fast reactor components
Argonne National Laboratory has successfully swapped out an aging cold trap in the sodium test loop called METL (Mechanisms Engineering Test Loop), the Department of Energy announced April 23. The upgrade is the first of its kind in the United States in more than 30 years, according to the DOE, and will help test components and operations for the sodium-cooled fast reactors being developed now.
2024 ANS Student Conference
Mr. Oscar Prat is Senior Director, AP1000® Construction Support Services at Westinghouse Electric Company. In this role, he leads the construction scoping and preparation for all AP1000 plant projects worldwide. Mr. Prat joined Westinghouse in 2006 and has held roles of increasing responsibility since. Most recently, he was the Senior Director, Major Equipment & Installation for the Vogtle 3&4 Project. In this role, he had responsibility for all major construction support evolutions, primary equipment installation, I&C system in-cabinet installation, pre-service inspections, fuel handling equipment commissioning, and initial core load activities. Prior to supporting the AP1000 projects in the U.S., Mr. Prat was the Major Equipment Installation Manager at Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant, where he spent 6 years supporting component installation and testing at both Sanmen and Haiyang AP1000 plant sites. Mr. Prat holds Bachelor of Science degrees in electrical engineering and economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler School of Business.
