The progress so far: An update on the Reactor Pilot Program
It has been about three months since the Department of Energy named 10 companies for its new Reactor Pilot Program, which set an ambitious goal of having three reactors achieve criticality by July 4, 2026.

Stefano Monti joined the IAEA in 2011. He is currently the Head of the Nuclear Power Technology Development Section in the Department of Nuclear Energy. The Section provides support to Member States and stakeholders for the technology development and deployment of advanced nuclear reactors, including Small Modular Reactors (SMR), as well as non-electric applications of nuclear power.
