Meeting the moment
Mark Peterspresident@ans.org
It is both an honor and a privilege to begin my term as president of the American Nuclear Society. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me by the membership, and I look forward to serving this remarkable Society over the coming year.
I would also like to recognize the leadership of my predecessor, Hash Hashemian, as well as the dedication of ANS CEO Craig Piercy, our staff, and countless volunteers. ANS succeeds because people choose to contribute their time, expertise, and energy in service of a mission larger than themselves.
We begin this year at a moment of tremendous opportunity for nuclear science and technology. Around the world, there is growing recognition that nuclear energy and nuclear technologies are essential to addressing some of society’s most pressing challenges. At the same time, advances in areas ranging from medical isotopes and fusion to space nuclear systems and advanced reactors are creating new possibilities for innovation and impact.
