The selenium content of over 120 fossil-fuel samples from various areas in the United States have been determined using neutron activation analysis combined with extractive distillation of selenium. The Se/S ratio in these fuel samples is also calculated to determine the constancy of this ratio infossilfuels. Possible applications of Se/S ratio measurements in air-pollution studies are discussed.
