A gaseous Cerenkov detector, capable of detecting only high-energy prompt gamma rays in the presence of a significant low-energy flux, has been tested as a power-level monitor. Preliminary tests show the net output to be linear with reactor power. Applicability and suggested improvements to the present device are discussed.
