The neutron spectrum of 238PuO2 was measured with a 6Li fast-neutron spectrometer. The neutrons derive mainly from the (α,n) reaction with 18O. The spectrum shows a peak at 2.3 Me V and a maximum neutron energy of ≈ 4.8 Me V.
