The mass flow choking limits have been calculated for 14 potential working fluids in cylindrical heat pipes. The problem is analyzed with the vapor assumed to be a perfect gas and then as a compressible gas with viscous flow, and both results are compared to measured heat pipe performance. Based on the measured data the analysis has been extended to other potential working fluids and the results are tabulated.
