DTRA’s advancements in nuclear and radiological detection
A new, more complex nuclear age has begun. Echoing the tensions of the Cold War amid rapidly evolving nuclear and radiological threats, preparedness in the modern age is a contest of scientific innovation. The Research and Development Directorate (RD) at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is charged with winning this contest.

The energy dependence of some experimentally derived neutron absorption and fission cross sections of 235U and 239Pu are compared with the ENDF/B-IV results over the energy range from 0.005 to 1.0 e V. Wescott g factors are presented as calculated from the experimental data. The experimental results published previously were normalized to ENDF/B-III values for σf and σa.
