The dependence of the shape of neutron capture gamma-ray spectra on the neutron energy averaging interval size has been investigated for the 181Ta(n,γ) reaction. The effects of statistical fluctuations in the partial radiation widths are discussed. The change in the spectral shape as a function of neutron energy is presented.
