Deep Fission raises $30M in financing
Since the Department of Energy kicked off a 10-company race with its Nuclear Reactor Pilot Program to bring test reactors on line by July 4, 2026, the industry has been waiting for new headlines proclaiming progress. Neutron activation (n, γ) cross sections of various isotopes have been determined in the Los Alamos Godiva and Jezebel assemblies by a comparison activation method. Where these values represent total capture, they may be used in conjunction with effective absorption cross sections (σa) from reactivity contribution measurements to obtain the effect of energy degradation of the neutrons by inelastic scattering.
