The importance of the structure of the detailed neutron spectrum, and in particular, its spatial dependence, in typical core-blanket and core-reflector fast-reactor configurations is investigated. The validity of current weighting spectra used in few-group (∼25) cross-section sets is established as are the limits of variation of coarse-group cross sections.
